Julia and Galen were a catalyst in the creation of Canine Arthritis Management. Through doing the Galen Myotherapy diploma, my eyes were opened to the physical and emotional signs of pain and discomfort we see in our dogs. It also opened my mind to improved ways to manage it.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PAIN AND BEHAVIOUR
POSITIVE EFFECTS OF TREATMENT

Galen Myotherapy can help to alleviate pain and discomfort attributed to chronic conditions and associated compensatory issues through targeted treatment programmes. The treatment physically manipulates the surrounding tissues, creating a positive bio/neurochemical, physiological change whereby improving the tissue integrity. This quantification of the nature of the changes has now been formalised into the Galen Comfort Scale©, which is being used as an assessment tool in the many studies and treatments that Galen are involved in.
Positive PACT
TREATING DOGS WITH CHOICE

Positive PACT®, Galen’s unique ‘choice led treatment’ protocol respects a dog’s ability to control treatment by recognising and respecting their emotional and behavioural responses to pain as freedom of movement. Giving a dog autonomy over their own intensity and pace of treatment enables us to treat areas that would otherwise be highly resistant to any form of contact treatment.

INTEGRATING GALEN MYOTHERAPY INTO YOUR PRACTICE
EFFECTIVE AND MEASURABLE TREATMENT

Galen Myotherapists are experts in pain and behaviour and will always treat your client with a high level of professionalism and respect. A dog will always be given ‘choice’ using our Positive PACT® treatment protocol. We never use forced restraint and treatment will always take place on the floor or on a low level, where a dog is most comfortable.
We are passionate about empowering and educating owners to recognise signs of pain and the importance of communicating any changes with their veterinary surgeon to support their dog’s health and wellness.
