Galen Canine Myotherapist
York and East Yorkshire.
As a Canine Mytherapist, it is my intention to improve the mobility and wellbeing of dogs through Myotherapy treatments, rehabilitative exercises and owner education. Although I treat a range of dogs, I have a particular interest in behavioural cases and I focus on uncovering and alleviating the root cause of the problem behaviour, whether this is psychological or chronic pain related. For these cases, I also apply the knowledge gained from my BSc (Hons) in Animal Behaviour and Training as well as from my practical dog training experience to offer training and behaviour advice.
I also feel it is important to increase awareness of pain related behaviour and educate owners by providing them with skills and knowledge that can help them manage their dog’s condition.
Myotherapy is a complementary therapy, thus I believe that using a multi-modal approach for dogs is important in the management of their condition and I work with other dog professionals to ensure dogs are physically and psychologically sound. I also appreciate the work of dog rescues and where possible support the dogs in their care through Myotherapy.
I discovered Galen Canine Myotherapy due to my Rough Collie, Ralph’s peculiar desire to have his paws massaged, which led to my research into canine massage. Consequently, I discovered that although there were several hydrotherapy centres, there was a lack of Canine Myotherapists/Massage Therapists in my area, so I enrolled on the Canine Myotherapy Diploma to provide an alternative therapy to dog owners in York and East Yorkshire.
