They will give you 1:1 support and expert advice on how to implement changes to your dog’s activities, environment and how to effectively apply the massage techniques that you’ve learnt through the Foundation Course to best support your dog. They’ll also supply you with a 6 week progress report so you can see the positive impacts you’re making to your dog's health.

Below, we've provided further details around the different elements of this great offer, and you can enrol at the bottom of the page.
I was completely bowled over by the amount of incredible information that the course gave me. I really thought I knew about dogs but this informed me so many useful and totally fascinating facts about anatomy and how the environment can have impacts on their body. I thoroughly recommend this course to anyone who has a dog!

The Distance Support Programme

What is the Distance Support Programme
Over the last 2 years we have developed a Galen Myotherapy Distance Support Programme, that incorporates our 20 years of experience, to provide a supported ‘owner at-home’ treatment programme.

This programme enables 1:1 professional guidance for you as an owner, to enable you to help your dog. You will be supported remotely, through the programme, by your own dedicated, experienced Galen Myotherapist.

This programme was originally designed for owners who were not geographically close to a Galen Myotherapist and was inspired by our founder Julia Robertson travels and meeting dog owners from across the globe, who were wanting help for their dogs.

How it works
You will be sent a form to complete, asking you for specific photos and videos of your dog, these will form a major part of your Galen Myotherapist’s assessment.

You will also be asked to complete our Galen Comfort Scale©, which is a scale that we have developed from years of experience, identifying behavioural and physical changes that relate to a dogs physical and muscular health. This information is critical for the Myotherapist to be able to assess your dog, as well as a tool for measuring improvement in your dog’s long term health and well-being. After you have returned the completed forms, videos and photos to your dedicated Galen Myotherapist, they will then be fully assessed. Your dog’s Galen Comfort Scale© will also be analysed to plot your dog's current state of comfort. This will also give valuable information to track their changes and recovery through everyday observations.

The full assessment report of your dog will then be sent to you. It will have literally ‘nose to tail’ assessment on your dog’s posture and loading, explaining how it could relate to any issue/s they may have and you are observing.

The report will demonstrate pictorial ‘comparisons’, giving you a very clear insight into how, and what, we are basing our evaluations. It will be totally specific to your dog; giving clear, functional and practical information and advice, for you to incorporate and use to support the health and wellbeing of your dog.

Within the report will be recommendations and clearly instructed videos on how and where to perform three safe and highly effective techniques. The videos will introduce and guide you through how you can integrate Galen’s Positive P.A.C.T.®, choice led treatment into your own treatment.

As well as other recommendations or ideas about how possibly, some environmental changes could also help your dog. The programme also includes a 6 week follow up for you to receive feedback on your application and any questions you may have to your dedicated Galen Myotherapist professional.

Our Distance Support Programme can help with many conditions and situations, including:

  • Dogs slowing down
  • Reluctance to be active
  • Stiffness
  • Ongoing lameness
  • Intermittent lameness following veterinary consultation
  • The effects of arthritis (treating the muscular compensatory discomfort)
  • Underlying conditions, hip dysplasia
  • Compensatory issues
  • ‘Tripawd’ dogs (Three-legged dogs)
  • Some behavioural problems, excessive licking of feet/body/ chewing/itching

Practically every lameness in a dog will be from a muscular problem and most of the conditions we see are as a result of underlying conditions, old injuries or repetitive strains.

Thanks Luisa with all your help with the Distance Support Programme. Your explanation was so helpful I again looked up the dog’s muscular anatomy yesterday. The understanding you’ve provided helped me use my fingers in a wholly different and more sensitive way, aware of what I was feeling. Happy sat for me for half an hour and even allowed me to do her rear!

Our vet is the leading veterinary neurologist in Finland and is very supportive of what I’m doing. We will pay her a visit if the trembling continues. Again, thanks for everything. You have no idea how much you have helped already.
