Welcome to Galen Myotherapy

We specialise in treating dogs with chronic muscular pain; enabling enhanced mobility and health through unique massage techniques and exercise management.

Established by Julia Robertson in 2002, Galen Myotherapy is at the forefront of interpreting how behaviour and muscle pain manifest in our dogs.

Our global organisation is passionate about enriching the lives of dogs through treatment, research and education.

Working closely with experts in animal welfare, we’re the most well-established training organisation in canine health, providing externally accredited courses, workshops and CPD for all levels of canine professional.

A TRULY GLOBAL AUTHORITY

What makes us different?

CHOICE LED TREATMENT
Galen Myotherapy’s unique Positive PACT treatment protocol ensures all dogs being treated have a ‘choice’.

We never use forced restraint and treatment will always take place on the floor or on a low level, which is where a dog is most comfortable.
WORLD-LEADER IN EDUCATION
Our Galen Canine Myotherapy Diploma was the first of its kind and has been delivered successfully for over ten years. It was the first fully accredited qualification and we are proud to have seen hundreds of dog handlers and veterinary professionals graduate.
CUTTING EDGE RESEARCH
We are dedicated and committed to demonstrating how Galen Myotherapy can enable positive physical and behavioural change for dogs, through science based evidence. We have conducted and are currently conducting studies with academic partners and fellow therapists to evidence our empirical findings.
TRUSTED BY EXPERTS
Due to the groundbreaking work that we've been involved in since 2002, we’ve been invited to work with a large number of globally recognised experts including Turid Rugaas, Professor Daniel Mills of Lincoln University, and have spoken at many conferences, including Chirag Patel’s WOOF conference.
OUR CHARITY WORK
In 2015 we founded the charity War Dogs Remembered, to pay tribute to and raise awareness of dogs that have served in the military. We raise funds to educate and share knowledge around the tremendous work that these dogs have undertaken.

TRAINING

Our Education Programme

Following Julia's groundbreaking work in Canine Myotherapy she set up the Galen Myotherapy Education Program to share her knowledge to enrich the lives of dogs across the world.

It encompasses a wide range of courses for career-seekers and animal lovers alike, including workshops, online courses, CPD for Vets and qualifications in Canine Myotherapy.

The cornerstone of our Education Program is the Galen Canine Myotherapy Diploma which was the first externally accredited course specialising in canine massage/myotherapy and has been delivered successfully since 2006.

Galen Myotherapy has quite literally changed Ozzey’s life, from a prematurely old and painful dog into one that is so, so much happier. I was also shown how I can help to maintain his condition so I too can help him. He has top-ups every few months but I have learnt to know when he is starting to go downhill. I feel that I am in much more control of his health and well-being!
